Born on mainland Germany, it wasn’t long before the lure of the ocean brought Gero to the North Sea island of Sylt.

In order to finance his dream of a ‘surf lifestyle’ Gero started shaping and repairing boards at Paradise Customs Sylt in 1988.

It was during that time that he built a reputation as a progressive shaper. His speciality was small wave boards and longboards. Gero carved a niche for himself, literally, designing boards that allowed the user to get the most out of the sloppier Northern Sea Swells.

Yoni surfboards is born out of Zé’s love for craftmanship and nature. Each board is handcrafted in Portugal with local and sustainable materials and a minimum impact on the environment.
With a Yoni surfboard under your feet a tree can continue its life. Out of one tree we make 20 boards and for each board we sell we plant a new one!
